NetZero, Inc. Privacy Policy


A special notice to parents of children under 13.

In compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and fair information practices, we will not knowingly allow children under the age of 13 to become users without parental consent. If we later learn that a child under the age of 13 is a user of our Services and we do not have parental consent, then that child's account will be terminated. We do not knowingly disclose the personal information of children under the age of 13 to third parties. We have designed a Parental Consent Form to allow parents to easily provide their consent so their children under the age of 13 may use the Services on our Sites.

In order to make an informed decision about giving parental consent we provide a summary of our pertinent privacy practices below with regard to children under the age of 13:

  1. We abide by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, which, in part, prohibits all operators from conditioning a child's participation in an Internet activity on the disclosure of more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in the activity.

  3. We collect a variety of information, including personally identifiable information, as described elsewhere in this Policy. Most of this information is collected through the registration form and personal profile our applicants fill out when they register to become a user or when they respond to questions, surveys, advertisements or promotions.

  4. We collect and use users' information for a variety of purposes as more fully described elsewhere in this Policy, including to uniquely identify each user on our Service and to research our users' demographics, interests and behaviors.

  5. The parent of a user under the age of 13 can review and delete or have deleted their child's Information and refuse to permit further collection or use of their child's Information by accessing their child's Information contained in their personal profile. You may terminate your child's account at any time by submitting a request to NetZero via email to abuse@support.netzero.com. Please note that we cannot change or delete information or terminate your child's account with other third parties, including every NetZero Affiliate. You must contact each third party or Affiliate to change of delete your child's Information or terminate your child's account. Please review each third party or Affiliate privacy policy for a description of how to take the appropriate actions.

This special notice only relates to children under the age of 13 and is not applicable in any respect to children 13 or over. In the event we make any changes to any of the information set forth in this special notice, we will promptly revise this special notice and make it available in this Policy located here.
